Rockers of Ghost Hounds To Open For ZZ Top This Fall

Ghost Hounds Band BW

Ghost Hounds, the rock group who garnered attention while opening for The Rolling Stones earlier this year, have been announced as the opening act for ZZ Top’s 50th Anniversary Tour this fall.

The Pittsburgh-based band will provide support on dates kicking-off on October 22 in Melbourne, Florida, followed by gigs in cities like Bethlehem, Erie, and Tallahassee. They’ll appear at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, as well as Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and Wings Event Center in Missouri. The group, founded by guitarist Thomas Tull, will be touring in support of their forthcoming record, Roses Are Black. Tull will be take the stage with a new lineup including guitarist Johnny Baab, bassist Bennett Miller, drummer Blaise Lanzetta, and vocalist Tre Nation.

While Ghost Hounds broke up years ago for Tull to focus on Legendary Entertainment’s round of hit films like “Jurassic World,” “Straight Outta Compton,” and “The Hangover,” as well as other ventures, he decided that after seling Legendary in 2016, he was ready to “push that old rock (and roll) back up the hill.”

“I missed music,” Tull said in a press release. “I missed writing. I missed performing. I missed the camaraderie of a band. I decided this was something I really wanted to do.”

He described these new songs as a part of an “old-fashioned record, where you can listen to the record and then go hear the band and say, ‘Yeah, that’s the song I heard,’” noting that “there’s nothing we can’t pull off live.”

ZZ Top were slated to kick-off their tour later this month, but the band’s drummer, Frank Beard, was diagnosed with pneumonia and was told to rest by doctors. The first four dates of their tour have been called-off; shows will pick-up on August 21 in Woodinville, Washington. Check out the group’s full round of tour dates below, and those with Ghost Hounds.

Rock, Reggae & Relief Recap

We had a great time rocking out in the city we call home for the two-day Rock, Reggae, & Relief Festival on August 24th in downtown Pittsburgh, PA. We performed the first day of the festival alongside other acts like Gavin DeGraw, The Expendables, and Roots of Creation. All proceeds from the event were donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance to help support finding a cure for ovarian cancer, advocating for patients, and providing support for survivors. Thank you to those who came out to this charity event and helped support a great cause. Here are some highlights from the show.
