Hey Hounds, I need a bit of info here....Being a transplant to the Georgia area.
My family lives in Loganville and my son goes to school at J.C.McGill elementary.
Now around here everytime we mention the street name "Brushy Fork" people look at each other with the ever popular "Knowing glance of the locals who know something"...(as seen in the movies..usually involves a long abandonded farmhouse or local legendardy crazy axe weilding hermit(
Does anybody have any background on this area..We've heard that it involed property that that was very old and recently removed,
I have an idea with all of the recent developments in the area and the addition of a golf course....thinkin' someone might be a bit pissed off;;;;;all I'm saying
Thanks for any help Hounds

Is that the road that is close to Annslee Lakes subdivision? If so, I know what you are talking about - we live in Loganville too
We did a drive-by of the area after hearing about it ourselves if it is the same place you are talking about. We had heard there was a barn out there that some people had been hung at (not sure of the actual story there, but rumoured to either be slaves or some other sort of racial incident). So we went up and down the road looking for some sort of old barn and couldn't find it until making a turn at the very END of the road. VERY well hidden behind a stand of trees was a building that if you didn't look in the right place when you were making the turn onto the next road you would miss it, but since we had 2 young'uns in the van with us we didn't stop to take a look-see and also there are a few houses around the area. There are also some other subdivision going up around there - or they were new at the time anyway - and I do remember having that "unsettled" feeling as we went through them looking for this barn.
So if that *is* the place or story you heard or are talking about I hope that gives some idea, but it really isn't much since we didn't ever really get out to go and take a real good look. What we did see was a VERY interesting looking building but unfortunately in an area with too many residences around who might not take too kindly to people poking around their backyards in the middle of the night.
A more interesting place off of 316 is a little church in a tiny place called Omer....now THAT place is worth taking a peek at....and we have...as have a few others in this group. Although we don't recommend going onto property you don't have proper clearance for
Anyhow - I also took a look at your cartoons - VERY funny (I am sure you have heard that a zillion times). We are trying to get back into doing stuff with the group too so hopefully we can meet you sometime _________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes! http://myspace.com/aravisramandu

I too am from Loganville but I am unfamiliar with any stories from brushy fork. I am walking distance from there.
I am familiar with the church off 316 but havent ever been there in person. My wife has a couple of police officer friends who used to sit in front of it at night to fill out nightly reports. She said alot of them wont sit there anymore because it freaks them out to much.
However, I have been wanting to talk with some of the employees from the walgreens at 78 and 20. There used to be a cemetery there and they had to relocated a few graves before they could finish construction. There is still a small plot back behind the store in the parking lot.

I've lived in Snellville all my life - I would be one of those "locals" giving you the "look" when you mention Brushy Fork
The story I always heard was of a teenage girl and her dog kidnapped while walking down the road (I think it was Mink Livesy Rd. when it was told to me). Supposedly she met a horrible fate..there was a well involved. You can just imagine the extent of the story as kids retell it.
I've always chalked it up as suburban legend, and for years as teenagers we would drive down that way to spook each other out. It was quite creepy and vandals had spraypainted along the road pentagrams and other things. And of course, stories of apparitions of a girl appearing on the road and people driving right through her.

THAT'S what the story is!!! Now I remember my sister-in-law saying this as well and talking about many high-school "outings" (of course no under-age drinking involved ) where they would go and try to find the girl...
Now all that reminds me of where I was telling you Spookem - it is a place called Rabbit Run Road in Loganville that had the barn where alleged hangings took place. And I know where you can get to Brushy Fork Road too - take a left at the intersection where the shopping center is that has the Midori Japanese place on one side and the Gymboree on the other (of course why would I remember the road name? - ) Anyway, go down "a-ways" (classic southern mile marker point) and Brushy Fork will be on the right. OR go all the way down to Rosebud Road (I always think of Citizen Kane when I go down that road ) and go down maybe a mile or so and Brushy Fork will be on your *left*.
Good clean fun should be had by all - or not so clean as long as someone brings the Lysol wipes
OK if I can provide any more confusion I am always eager to help! _________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes! http://myspace.com/aravisramandu

Luke,
I as well would be another one of the locals who grew up in the area. The legend is of a girl who indeed met a terrible fate. She was kidnapped by some tenants that resided at the Brushy Fork farm and was supposedly gangraped and beaten and then....as legend has it chopped up and thrown into the well in the back of the property. The well I'm sure has been covered up but the locals after hearing what had happened there burned the house to the ground. For years all you could see was the still standing chimney of the burnt down house. When I was 16 I went back to see the well with some of my friends and I will never go back to that place again... I actually saw the ghost, standing next to the well. The place creeps me out even though it's all cleaned up. The exact location of the well was right behind where the school stands now.

Georgia (i /ˈdʒɔrdʒə/) is a state located in the southeastern United States. Georgia was established in 1732, the last of the original Thirteen Colonies. Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution, on January 2, 1788. It declared its secession from the Union on January 21, 1861, and was one of the original seven Confederate states. It was the last state to be restored to the Union, on July 15, 1870. With an estimated 9,829,211 residents as of July 1, 2009, Georgia is the ninth most populous state.[1] From 2007 to 2008, 14 of Georgia's counties ranked among the nation's 100 fastest-growing, second only to Texas.[3] Georgia is known as the Peach State and the Empire State of the South. Atlanta is the capital and the most populous city.
Georgia is bordered on the south by Florida; on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and South Carolina; on the west by Alabama and by Florida in the south; and on the north by Tennessee and North Carolina. The northern part of the state is in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a mountain range in the vast Appalachian Mountains system. The central piedmont extends from the foothills to the fall line, where the rivers cascade down in elevation to the continental coastal plain of the southern part of the state. The highest point in Georgia is Brasstown Bald, 4,784 feet (1,458 m); the lowest point is sea level.
This behavior occurs because Word uses a specific rule to determine whether to apply a style to selected text. According to this rule, Word applies a style depending on the percentage of the selected text that already has formatting applied. For example, if you already applied formatting to less than 50 percent of the selected text, this formatting is retained when you apply a style. If the selected text includes multiple paragraphs, Word first calculates the percentage of text that is formatted in the first paragraph. Then, it examines the paragraphs in the same range. If the formatting that is applied to the text in the paragraphs that follow the first paragraph differs from most of the formatting in the first paragraph, Word does not apply the style to the following paragraphs. Therefore, the formatting is retained in these paragraphs. _________________ seena
